the power of nightmares

Han subido a Archive.org The Power of Nightmares, el interesante documental de la BBC sobre los orígenes paralelos del Fundamentalismo Islámico y el neoconservadurismo americano y su repercusión en las nuevas tácticas de conservación de poder: enterrar la esperanza, sembrar el terror.

De la primera parte:

Both [the Islamists and Neoconservatives] were idealists who were born out of the failure of the liberal dream to build a better world. And both had a very similar explanation for what caused that failure. These two groups have changed the world, but not in the way that either intended. Together, they created today's nightmare vision of a secret, organized evil that threatens the world. A fantasy that politicians then found restored their power and authority in a disillusioned age. And those with the darkest fears became the most powerful.

El documental tiene momentos impagables, dignos de Top Secret. Como aquella en la que la CIA se inventa un rollo sobre la amenaza rusa y un menda escribe un libro sobre la conspiración pero sin darse cuenta de que es todo inventado y se convierte en un best seller y entonces la CIA -que ha cambiado de jefe- se lo cree todo y comienza una campaña para contraatacar y ... bah, no lo recuerdo muy bien. Pero mola.
